How to Stop Waiting for the ‘Perfect Moment’ and Just Start!

You know, I used to be just like you, waiting for that perfect moment to come. Whether it was a new project, a career move, or even something as simple as starting a workout routine, Iโ€™d always tell myself, โ€œIโ€™ll start when Iโ€™m ready.

When things are a little less chaotic. When I have more time.โ€ ๐Ÿ™

But hereโ€™s the thing: that perfect moment never came.

I kept telling myself these little lies, convincing myself that someday, all the stars would align, and Iโ€™d feel 100% ready. Iโ€™d finally have enough time, energy, confidenceโ€”you name it. But as the weeks, months, and even years went by, I realized I was just waiting. And waiting gets you nowhere.

To be honest, I wasn’t even ready when I created this Newsletter, ”Refuse to settle for average”

Iโ€™m not sure if youโ€™ve felt this way too, but if youโ€™re anything like me, maybe youโ€™ve been sitting on an idea or a goal, thinking, “When the timeโ€™s right, Iโ€™ll go for it.” But can I let you in on a secret?

Seriously. Life will be messy sometimes, and there will always be something standing in the way whether it’s your schedule, your confidence, or the fear of messing up. And trust me, I get it. Taking that first step can be terrifying, especially when everything feels uncertain.

But let me tell you what helped me.

One day, I just decided, โ€œEnough is enough. Iโ€™m going to start now, messy, imperfect, and scared.โ€ And guess what? That first step? It was far from perfect. In fact, I stumbled. I doubted myself. But I learned more in those first few messy steps than I ever couldโ€™ve learned by waiting.

It wasnโ€™t about starting with the perfect plan or the perfect conditions. It was about starting period.

Let me share a more vulnerable thing that happened today, earlier today i went for my ice skating lesson, my instructor kept saying to me wow, Sophia you have greatly improved.

I used to be so scared that i would walk like a duck on ice skates for several classes!

I remember thinking, “What if this fails? What if I make a fool of myself?” I am literarily learning how to skate among kids and teenagers! lol

But then I realized, that even if I failed, failing is part of the process.

Falling is part of the process

I’d be further along than I was yesterday. Waiting was only keeping me stuck. And once I made that first move, something incredible happenedโ€”I built momentum. One step turned into two, then three, and suddenly, I was moving. I wasnโ€™t stuck in that endless cycle of โ€œsomedayโ€ anymore.

And honestly? Thereโ€™s something so powerful about just starting. You donโ€™t have to have it all figured out. You donโ€™t need to wait until youโ€™re completely ready. Because that day might never come.

So, if youโ€™ve been waiting for the perfect time to make a move whether itโ€™s starting that side hustle youโ€™ve been dreaming about, applying for that new job, or even something as personal as getting in shapeโ€”let me tell you: the perfect time is now.

You donโ€™t need everything to be in place. You just need to take the first step. Even if itโ€™s small, even if itโ€™s imperfect. Because starting, no matter how messy it feels, is what brings clarity. Itโ€™s what gets you moving, and that momentum is everything.

Iโ€™m not saying itโ€™ll be easy. Youโ€™ll probably stumble. Youโ€™ll definitely have doubts. But every step forward, even the messy ones, is a step toward progress. And thatโ€™s what matters.

Hereโ€™s what I want you to do, think of that thing youโ€™ve been putting off. That goal thatโ€™s been sitting in the back of your mind. I want you to take one small step toward it today. It doesnโ€™t have to be big or life-changing, just something to get the ball rolling.

Maybe itโ€™s sending an email, signing up for that class, or spending just 10 minutes sketching out an idea. Whatever it is, do it today. Not tomorrow, not next weekโ€”today. Because once you start, youโ€™ll see that the perfect moment isnโ€™t something you wait for, itโ€™s something you create.

So, go ahead. Take that first step. I promise you, itโ€™s worth it.

And rememberโ€”you donโ€™t have to be perfect, you just have to start.

I try to keep my posts short and a quick read so i’d stop here.

Thereโ€™s no magic formula for the perfect moment, itโ€™s about taking action, one step at a time.

Youโ€™ve got this! Now, letโ€™s stop waiting and start building the future you want, today.!
